The Cardboard Universe series allows you to fly though galaxy surveys in virtual reality. Each galaxy is represented as a coloured sphere, with the colour roughly corresponding to the real colour of the galaxy. The 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey was carried out between 1995 and 2002 at the Australian Astronomical Observatory in New South Wales, Australia (then known as the Anglo-Australian Observatory). By mapping the structure of the galaxy clustering, it was able to achieve several goals, including determining the total mass density of the universe and constraining the upper limit on neutrino mass (1.8 eV).
